Forensic Linguistics Institute
The Forensic Linguistics Institute is run by Dr. John Olsson and provides certificate courses in forensic linguistics and transcription. Forensic transcription training is hard to come by and we highly recommend that transcriptionists who work with criminal justice and marginally intelligible recordings take Dr. John Olsson's course.

STC develops high quality professional software for forensic audio analysis and voice recording. They also offer training and seminars for forensic audio professionals and others. We highly recommend their audio software such as Sound Cleaner Premium and SIS.
Electronic Services Agency
Among other things, ESA sells Speech Technology Center software in the U.S. such as Sound Cleaner Premium and Editracker. They also provide training services for this software. Ken Pfarr of ESA has been very helpful and has always been willing to give us good advice.

The American College of Forensics Examiners provides its members with quality certification programs and continuing education opportunities. It also publishes an informative peer-reviewed journal. It is the largest organization for forensics professionals.
American Translators Association
The American Translators Association is the largest professional association for translators in the United States. It provides certification for qualified translators and offers seminars throughout the United States. Members also receive a monthly publication of interest to translators and translation companies.
American Transcription Association
The American Transcription Association is a fairly new organization serving the interests of American transcriptionists and transcription companies. Persons and companies representing a variety of fields such as general, medical, business, and legal transcription are welcome.
International Association of Forensic Linguists
We are involved with the forensic transcription and translation of written and spoken evidence and must be ready to defend our work in court. Thus, it is good to have professional organizations around like the IAFL which gives us access to articles and research regarding our area of expertise. We are also able to network with forensic linguists from around the world for information and recruiting purposes.
Audio Engineering Society
As stated on their website, the Audio Engineering Society is the only professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology. Membership gives us access to educational opportunities and online tutorials and articles. It is also great for networking with people from various fields within the world of audio.
