In the case of text or document translation our charges are based on the source language whenever the words can be counted electronically. Audio and Video translation services are charged per minute of audio.

Document Translation
Audio & Video Translation
Analog & Digital Formats

Our translation services include both text and audio/video translation. We accept a variety of sources including digital documents such as PDF and MS Word, as well as hard copies. With regard to audio & video, we accept a large number of formats – both analog and digital. Click here to see the formats accepted.

If you don't have digital files to upload to our site and instead send us a cassette, 8-track tape, reel to reel, VHS tape or other medium, there will be an audio/video transfer fee of $20 per hour of audio. Each hour beyond 10 hours is charged at $10 per hour of audio. We do not translate from the original recordings. Translation and transcription adds a lot of wear and tear to the various tape formats. In addition, we try to limit the exposure of the original recordings to people and machines to reduce the chances of damage. Original recordings are handled with the utmost care. The recordings will be transferred to .wav files for translation and any required enhancement work.

Once the product is ready, it will be available for the client to download from our website. If a CD, DVD, or other copy is desired, we can provide those at a small additional cost.

Subtitles

Does your video evidence contain speech that is difficult to understand – especially for those sitting in a courtroom and without quality headphones? After transcription or translation, we can add English or Spanish subtitles so your audience can more easily follow along.

You may want the trier of fact or others to view your video evidence even though they may not understand the actual dialog due to marginal intelligibility or foreign language speech. In either situation we can add English or Spanish subtitles so your audience doesn’t miss what is being said as it happens in the video.

Translication (TT)

Translication, or simply TT, combines both transcription & translation services. When translating general audio/video material we offer two translation options. One is translating directly from speech in language "A" to text in language "B" (the cheaper option), the other is translication or TT. Translication is the process of, for example, first taking Spanish language audio and transcribing it to Spanish text. Then, that Spanish text is translated to English text. Finally, both documents are presented to the client.

Translication is necessary for situations when accuracy is critical. Thus, with forensic, criminal justice, and law enforcement translation, we will translicate your material.

General Translation

General translation includes any translation without extensive technical or industry specific jargon. It also includes general business translation. The material could be an interview, oral history, press conference or even a business meeting as long as a minimal amount of specialist jargon is present. After completion all of our translations are examined by proofreaders to ensure accuracy.

The finished product is delivered in PDF. If requested we can also produce finished translations in Microsoft Word or many other formats. Hard copies are available at the additional cost of $.40 per page.

When requested, general translations can be certified for an additional fee. There are two methods of certification that we use. Click here to read about our certification process.

Forensic Translation
Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice Translation

Forensic translation is the translation of documents and recordings of an evidentiary nature. It includes anything to be used in court but can also include documents and recordings used only as an aid to investigation. It may include recordings with criminal justice and law enforcement terminology, as well as the various forms of criminal slang. Recordings are often of suspect interrogations, witness interviews, and from undercover investigations. When dealing with these recordings the audio is often poor in quality to varying degrees but it is not always the case. However, we are experts with poor quality recordings. We use some of the best forensic audio software and hardware available to help with inaudible and unintelligible speech.

We also provide forensic pathology translation services and are HIPPA compliant. Forensic pathology translation projects are always assigned to experienced medical translators with an expertise in forensic medicine.

After completion, all of our translations are examined by proofreaders to ensure accuracy.

All of our forensic translations are automatically delivered in PDF and are certified at no additional cost. There are two methods of certification that we use. Click here to read about our certification process.

If certification is not needed, we can deliver the product in formats other than PDF, such as Microsoft Word. Hard copies are available at the additional cost of $.40 per page.
